Fissure or levator ani? or both?

Postby sweetpea » 05 Jul 2014, 11:16

i got a retear (i think) when i had a hard bm about 3 months ago...

i had one in 9/11 that had healed up though i had never been able to sit without cushions after it healed.

note: be careful when you travel, planes are constipating~

anyway: how would i know which i have?

i seem to be ok several hours after a bm... or even a day or two i feel like i am making headway (a$$way) and then, pain hits like early in the morning before anything like a bm or in the evening....

i don't want to go to my CRS because i am scared the exam will flare me out further.

how can one tell what one has?

thanks!

Sweet pea,

The only way to really know what is exactly what you have is to get checked. I have been to several doctors myself because I still have fissure like symptoms with no visible fissure and have been told that I have pelvic floor dysfunction. I too am trying to find the solution to this problem...all this started from a fissure.
2/14 Fissure developed
3/14 Diagnosed w/ fissure given Nifedipine
4/14 Referred to Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy=Pelvic Floor Dysfunction
5/14 Fissure declared "healed"/chronic anal pain persists
9/5/14 Botox to pelvic floor
9/22 biofeedback

thanks, Alyssa.

what have you found, if anything, that brings you relief?
i have had one dr. look and could not see any active fissures and i have no blood but i know they can be hidden.

i am scared about more look-sees and flares from this.

i think i have the pelvic floor stuff too.

Sweetpea,

I am going to physical therapy at this time but it has not helped completely eliminate the pain; I tend to stand much more since I feel sitting makes the burning worst. I do sitz bath, take Tylenol, message the area and do yoga exercises. I also use a peri bottle to clean after a bm. This is totally confusing to me and I can't believe a tiny fissure has cause all this discomfort, it has been almost 5 months for me and I don't know if my bum will ever be or feel normal again.

Sometimes I feel as though I have paper cuts around my anus and it feels sore all day; when pressure is applied (sitting for long periods of times) it feels like I have icy-hot (hot burning pain.. intensity i creases with the longer i sit) on my butt. The last crs suggested that I try Botox since I could have a little tear that may not be visible (I have had some mild bleeding during normal bm) but I'm unsure about trying it. I had a colonoscopy last month to rule out any other conditions that could be causing any pain.
