Bleeding 5 weeks post LIS

Postby Beamer23 » 15 Aug 2014, 22:40

Hi everyone,

I had a fissurectomy 5 weeks ago. I've been doing really well the last two weeks and haven't really noticed much pain at all. Which is why it was so surprising this evening when I had a BM and had blood in the stool for the first time since before the surgery. There was a bit of pain during the BM, but nothing like it was pre-surgery. The BM wasn't any harder than it has been the last 5 weeks.

Has this happened to anyone else? Should I be concerned, or hope that this was just a one time thing?

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!!

Hi Beamer,

I did have some bleeding and minor pain at the incision site 4 weeks post LIS. If the bleeding goes away in a day or two, you should not be concerned as it takes 6 to 8 weeks for the area to heal. Give your CRS a call to be on the safe side.
