Update following my crs appointment today

Postby hurtinend » 09 Jun 2015, 19:29

So..

CRS had a good thorough look today. I have....

3 internal hemmies
1 fissure, medium size

He recommends....

Sit in bleach one half cup in tub of water to help shrink hemmies, says he can band them anytime

I have puss/mucous near fissure, not a good thing, continue Diltiazem.....see me in 2 weeks

Wow how did this happen should I have the hemmies banded?
What is the puss/mucous near fissure?

Sit in bleach? That's a new one. Anyone else heard of this?
How was the exam? Are you doing OK?
Nifedipine/lidocaine, no help
Diltiazem, effective, but caused major rash
Nitroglycerine, effective.
Topical estrogen for final healing.
Gentle heat to bottom - pain relief, muscle relaxant
Kondremul mineral oil
Time - lots of time.
Status - Healed!

yes sit in diluted bleach, he was dead serious. I think he thinks I have some sort of infection up there he is concerned about the puss/mucous he saw. Apparently, bleach will help.....and apparently is completely safe, check out this article: https://pediatricinsider.wordpress.com/ ... hem-right/

The exam was difficult, but I feel okay, no damage done. Good gentle doctor. Only issue I had was he asked me about anal sex or if I had stuck something up there - ouch. NO

Never heard of bleach. That does sound odd, but I suppose it makes sense. What about using some Polysporin ointment (I use the triple with vitamin e)? My CRS had me using this for a long time when I was dealing with my infection. I also think it helped some with my spasms (some antibiotics have the side effect of muscle relaxation).

Well I tried the bleach this morning, no adverse side effects, but agree it's strange, will keep going unless it doesn't feel right.

I like the polysporin idea, never tried but think I will.

Is the puss/mucus he saw a bit of infection?

Must feel like a swimming pool! lol. It could indeed be infected. I wouldn't be too alarmed yet as any wound will have what is called exudate (a discharge it expels to clean itself and fluid to provide nutrients to heal). If it is foul smelling, green or large in quantity or you notice a bump form then that is cause for concern. An open wound should be able to fight an infection on its own. It's when the bacteria are able to colonize (get trapped) that problems happen. That is what happened to me at my LIS incision site and and caused me to need a second surgery. Do you take probiotics in your diet?

Yes I take a super probiotic, been taking it a long time. If I'm infected, it's been that way for years, like 7.

I've given up on any cure, tried every potion and crazy concotion, some of it helps, but it never actually heals, back to the unconscious normalcy of years ago. just hoping to manage it best I can.

Hang in there hurtinend!! I'm having the same problem with pus. It's a mucus yellow and sometimes is a little sticky. I also have developed a cyst-like bump near the anus. I'm worried that an abscess may have develop as a result of infection. I called up my CRS and left a message.. Hopefully I'll get a phone call from him tomorrow!

I've tried so hard to hang in, I will always share my experience and things I find out, in the hope that it helps
others.

I hope you find the source of your issues, my crs said he didn't like what he saw and he wasn't sure what it was.....thanks, movin on....

Ughh, that's unfortunate. We always hope they know what's what. It's hard not to feel that we know more than they do, after a while.
Really hoping that bleach works for you, hurtinend.
