What causes you constipation?

Postby missy moo » 05 Jun 2019, 01:24

EDIT

For me it's
Yellow cheese
Kumara/sweet potatoes
White bread/buns/doughy things.
Tinned beans any kind (too high fiber)
Green beans
Too much caffeine (dries out my bms)
Too high fiber foods (or eating to much high fiber in one sitting)
Fake food, highly processed foods

"Edited"
I now take 1 serving of psyllium husk daily plus eat more vegetables i avoid the above foods and have created larger normal bms i no longer take any softeners and I've not had lis my fissure started nearly 9 years and i can for the first time say things are going well not perfect but having normal bms without the softeners has been a game changer I'm doing good now for about 3 months

For me it's red meat, too much processed food made from white flour, and the biggest one is not getting enough water.

Oh and alcohol dries me up the absolute worst!! Because it dehydrates and while drinking alcohol I don't drink water at all.

For me it's sugar, Cheddar cheese, pizza and any wheat based foods.

My diet is pretty healthy, so I can't really name (and blame) specific food, but I agree with Cez that stress is a major factor. Especially when the stress comes from not being at home and/or not having enough time to have a BM.

I agree ani the worst thing about having a fissure is the stress of being away from your privacy and bathroom time. It causes so much stress for me being away from home yet I want to be away from home so I can spend time with family.

White flour for sure is the worst for me.
March 2022 Suffered anal fissure.

April-May 2022 Went undiagnosed because GP couldn't see the fissure.

June 1st 2022 Officially diagnosed with fissure by GI and given nefedapine.

July 2022 Botox injection under anesthesia

Looks like we should all avoid white flour. Almond flour, oat flour, millet flour or wholemeal flour would be good substitutes. I avoid all white flour things have done for months so that mite also be whats helping me to be doing so well right now
