Hi Canadabum,
Explore surgery....not sure how that would happen, specialist I saw was a gastroenterologist, he told me straight out out that he was making sure I didn't have cancer.....then after the insanely painful digital rectal exam, he said I have a fissure. He prescribed diltiazem 5 times a day and colace stool softener. The colace does make bm softer, but I cannot say pain has decreased, and the diltiazem stings.
These specialists here are so busy, surgery was never suggested. Follow up in February. My family doc said he was referring me to crs, but it turns out this specialist is a general surgeon/gastro specialist. Oh he also told me no coffee, tomatoes, hot spice or alcohol.
Vancouver, great city but doctors here are stretched to the max, every office I go to is backed up, there is no time for conversation. I waited months to see him, when I left, there were at least 15 people waiting....crazy.
