Hi everyone... After months of misery and stupidly hoping I could go at this alone, I finally caved and begged begged begged my mother to take me to a doctor! The first doctor I went to was a general surgeon/plastic surgeon, and he recommended LIS. I was reluctant, of course, because I wanted to find a CRS first... But everyone I knew who worked in the medical field didn't know anyone to recommend and hadn't even heard of anyone specializing in colorectal surgery.
Then yesterday, in a bid of depression and desperation, I did a search on the internet. Lo and behold, an item I had never seen before cropped up--a website for a private hospital down these parts that has a Colorectal Specialists Clinic. Needless to say I asked my mom to book me an appointment immediately. So today we went!
Naturally he had to do an exam but I couldn't stand it when he would manipulate down there... so I have to get an examination under anesthesia. He said he'll be doing it before the procedure is done so the anesthesia won't have to be done again.
Now I have no health insurance or health care... so I have to shoulder all the costs. The thing is, I DON'T CARE ANYMORE! The double fissure has brought me to my knees (apparently I have an anterior AND a posterior fissure, along with a hypertrophic anal papilla. Joy) and I would do anything to get it gone.
So after that novel-length rant... I just wanted to say how absolutely nervous I am about the surgery, especially the first BM after! I'm also scared of the post op pain. Especially since I'll be doing it out-patient and I'll be recovering at home. Wish me luck that the procedure really works and my fissure won't recur... I can't afford another LIS after this!! :S
For those who are living in the Philippines (I know there were a couple members here who are from my country), I'll be having my operation at The Medical City (where the Colorectal Specialists Clinic is located) and it will cost me in the ballpark of 70-80,000 PHP (more if I get admitted). That's roughly USD2000 to anyone who might be curious about it!
