Hi, just wanted to introduce myself to the group. It's nice to be here to have an outlet to express concerns on.
My doctor decided surgery would be best for me for an anal fissure I've had for 9 weeks now. Yes, I didn't realize how painful condition it was or even what it was till I developed the condition. I'm a little better now though, at least.
My concern today is I'm fearful of the surgery some, and yet, at the same time, I'm very relieved to be having it, because my doctor and I had tried all the lesser means of trying to heal it.
At any rate, I was reading a little on here to listen to what people had to say and you guys really helped! The different experiences put me at ease and make me realize I'm not alone with this condition. So, thanks for being here.
My main question at this point would be how painful is recovery and how long is recovery-I realize there will be a variety of answers to that since we are all individuals but it would help if anyone that would like to could share the answer to that with me.
I have a large fissure he said with a small hemmoroid, so he said, "we'll get rid of all that for you." I assume that means in addition to the small cut in my spinchter muscle he mentioned, he will probably excise or cut out those 2 things , so I would think that would make my surgery just a little more painful. He's a doctor I very much trust, and that is really helping me feel secure about the operation!
It's great to be here and I definitely! wish you all the best health in the world for anything you may be suffering with or healing from.
Sincerely, Rosemary54
