what works

Postby AFSufferer » 12 Dec 2012, 01:37

Hi I'm new, just wanted to know if anyone has had any success with the amoils ad above. Don't want to buy something else that doesn't work as I have just tried Dr Wheatgrass for 8 days and still have absolutely no change. Today I am having a bad pain day. How does everyone else function, when you still have to go out, shop for food, babysit your grandchildren. Just generally live. Do you all live on painkillers or something? I had surgery 4 years ago, although mostly gone, still had to be very careful as I wasn't told anything about it. Didn't even know what it was until after surgery. Bled once a year for the next three and got a bit sore, then a bad bout of gastric, reopened it seven or eight weeks ago. Downhill ever since. I am still learning about it and did not realise so many people had it. So glad to have found this forum.

Hi afsufferer,
Welcome to the forum........but sorry you are here!
Personally.... I try not to live on painkillers.. There are times when I have to take them, but I try to live with it mostly. I have 3 children, a house to run and a part time job to do, and to be honest I just HAVE to get on with it. I have had a hard time lately too, so I know how down it can make you, and every day feels like an up hill struggle.
Read up all you can on these boards to help yourself.... Drink plenty of water, take a stool softener etc and hopefully you will start to heal soon.

Hi afsufferer: I have been using amoil since last Thursday. I have seen some minor improvement but I cannot say for certain it was solely due to amoil. I take 2 - 3 warm baths a day, I eat bran cereal in morning, sandwich for lunch, meal for dinner. I have also a banana, apple and yogurt between meals. I also drink a good bit of water, take a fiber tablet and also stool softner. I have had my fissure for about 3 months. My pain at beginning was 8/10, the past couple weeks it has been between 1 and 3/10. My crazy work schedule had been reduced to just staying at home all day, to going to work for 2 hours a day and now I can do 4 a 6 hours a day. I hope the above is helpful to you and can only suggest to have a good plan and eat carefully. Best of luck.

Thank you owmybum and vchelp for your replies, I find the stool softeners don't work for me. I don't get constipated I am soft enough just the pressure won't allow me to have a bm some mornings and I have to wait as you can't push. Lately I have missed a day occassionaly and found pain and pressure all day, then had gastric that night, or just normal next morning. I take benefibre every day. Lots of water, fruit and juices. I also have diabetes which may make it harder to heal. I have to eat yoghurt morning and again at night to take my medication as I can't swallow tablets. I had an operation a couple of years ago, and a sphincterotomy. Not being told what I had until afterward. Also never heard of af before that. Then instinctively knew I could never let myself get constipated again, kept it soft. But would still bleed once a year. Then this year had a bad bout of gastric and started getting it all over again. Did not know what to do to fix it, so used retrogesic, which made me bleed and got worse. Then just vaseline, until I researched enough to find out about wheatgrass balm, which I bought but didn't work yet. So thinking about using the amoil stuff i saw on the ad above. Did use some coconut oil yesterday which actually gave a modicum of relief for a short time. Appreciate the feedback, and can see so many people on here much worse off. Didn't realise there were so many with it.
