Anyone had FiLac Surgery?

Postby Dimitri71 » 10 Oct 2017, 02:56

Hi, I am in the process of whether to go for Fistula-tract Laser Closure (FiLaC) surgery. I currently have a seton in site for two months now and appraising the possibility to have the FiLac or to leave the seton for a longer period of time.
My fistula is a high transphicteric one.
I would really appreciate anyone's feedback.
Thank you in advance.

FiLAC technology seems promising, for sure, but you just want to be careful who does it. Go to a legit CRS who has a lot of experience with it. I live in the States where FiLAC is not offered in many places, so I went to get it done at IBI Healthcare with Chris Ibikunle. Big mistake! Not only did he make my issues so much worse, but he went ahead and did an advancement flap (in the wrong place, no less!) which, of course, failed, so now, I have two gaping fistulas that need repair. I was able to settle out of court, but if any of you are the States, do not, do not, do not go to IBI Healthcare no matter how desperate you are :(
