Botox has made me worse

Postby Tony40 » 14 Aug 2013, 14:58

Hi. I'm new to this forum. I have had a chronic fissure for about 3 months. I had a botox injection 8 days ago and it has made my pain and daily functioning significantly worse. Pain after BM's are a lot worse, baths no longer calm it down and pain lasts all day whereas previously I was pretty good from lunch time on. I had hope pre the procedure and now I have none. I am in excruciating pain and lie in bed all down. I need some advice please.

Tony I was much worse from my botox for a week because it hasn't kicked in yet. Before it did finally kick in I tore worse and the pain became much worse. Took 2 months to get back where I was before botox. Did u go under for exam? The fissure may have spread wider or deeper with the exam and caused it to become more tight.

Thanks hopefulbutt. Yes I was put under. After procedure Doc said AF appeared to only be superficial. Why does it take so long for the botox to kick in. I wasn't expecting it to get worse.

Unfortunatly, I have been worse since Botox too.
It takes at least 2 weeks to fully kick in and start to settle down.
Try and take it easy... Keep up with the good diet, plenty of fluids, warm baths etc, and things will start to settle in a few days.
Don't loose hope!!

Hi Tony,
My Botox took 4 weeks to kick in, I had EUA,Botox and hems banded, so when I woke up the pain was worse! It has taken a while for me to feel any difference as my 2 Fissures are a chronic case. If it is superficial then you should feel some benefit soon... I hope you can get things under control. Are you taking stool softener, and lubricating before a BM? Also if you look at the diet section on here there are some good tips on Fissure friendly foods, if you are not already doing this...
There are quite a few Botox Diaries on here now, you could take a look, if you want to see other people's progress on Botox. In particular, mine,JHH,OMB and Welsh Double Fissure. Good luck, keep us posted.... Xxx

Tony try and hang in there. I am only now seeng the benefits of it - two months in. I do wish I had had the surgery though but in any case we have to wait it out now. I also have a superficial fissure. I had a big dose of botox too.

Hi Tony,
Simply a big dollop of vaseline around the anal opening & a little inserted if possible.
All the best to you & hope you heal up soon.

So how does the botox operation work? Do they have to "widen up" when they give you the shots? My fissure is not big anymore but it is consistant and I hope botox could be the way to get rid of it once in for all. But I would hate if the operation made my fissure retear...

@aimolnaali
I had my Botox done without any anaesthesia. I was widened only slightly, by means of CRS fingers. However, she didn't put neither her fingers nor any anoscope inside of me when injecting. It was very small and gentle widening, nothing painful.
I have internal, posterior AF (hope described it correctly)
