Thanks, Lecia. I was happily surprised yesterday when my Mayo GI doc told me that he can see me this Monday. BTW, I found some of those items we discussed and will start working on that project. I hope that you are feeling better, and thank you for adding me to the calendar. For those of us in the US I think we are seeing firsthand some of the frustrations of those with national health care in other countries. Thanks again for adding me to the calendar!!

Well, France has NIH as well as Germany for example and it works wonderfully !!! In France nurse comes every single day to visit patient after any surgery - no matter how remotely one might live!
NIH can work great if it is funded well and is nicely organized !!!
Good luck Cheryl with your monday exam !!! Let us know how it went !

I will suck, as it sucks now - but at least ALL people will have access to medical care which is kind of overdue since we live in 21st century in highly developed industrial country LOL. We will still have private clinics and doctors too to go to if one is not satisfied - actually, I think all will be same for people with HMO ! We will all have HMO and pay some extra if we want to go out of network (read go private), what we are already doing anyway. I don't see how much it might change since we do not have fantastic health care now and all of the sudden we will not have it any more LOL.
There will just be some more bureaucracy and maybe longer waits for specialists but definitely not as long as 5 months ! As I said, I think it will be like HMO for all . I was on HMO for long time - and I can honestly say I never had a problem with it. At least, not more than with any other insurance. Doctors are the ones that make all the difference - not a system. I met some fantastic doctors in HMO and some bozos in "high end" so , go figure ...

Jo,
I had the enema this morning and then the analrectal manometry test. I thought of the people (Fiss and others) who will be taking the laxative prior to having colonoscopy.
Met with my doc yesterday and he did a digital exam which was not painful and told me I could go ahead today and have the test which I had this morning. I'll get my results from the test in a couple of hours. Everything (test results from procedures, etc.) moves fast here, as you know. I hope that your son is doing OK.

Glad you were able to check in! Got your package and will ship back soon!

Mayo is a medical center where they take hard to solve or complicated cases. They have a team of doctors that can work on your issue and do everything in a coordinated and succinct fashion. There are 3-one in Minnesota, Florida and Arizona. At least that was my understanding.
