CRS or GI?

Postby Vin » 10 Mar 2013, 05:53

Wondering peoples opinion or experience on seeing a Colorectal doc or Gastro doc as my next move. As many of us have probably experienced my doctor usually has not much more to add to this dilema than another cream and soft stools. What has been your experiences on the next step? Is either one more qualified? Does it make more sense to have a colonospocy? Some of us newbies can likely benefit from your experiences.

CRS absolutely. Colonoscopy is not really diagnostic for fissures but is a vital way to detect early bowel cancer. So if you are going under sedation it is probably advisable except the prep and procedure can upset fissure healing. I had one when I had sedation for botox and my butt survived the insult. If your motions are black it is definitely recommend .

If you think your problem is anal fissure, please go see a CRS. I saw a very well reputed gastro and he was totally clueless about anal fissures. His "treatment" did more harm than good. He said that diet doesn't matter for fissure people. L...O...L...
On the other hand, if you are concerned that you have some colon issues that are causing the fissures, like Crohns disease, you need to ask a gastro doc about that. A CRS will be clueless. But you still need the CRS to treat the fissure. Its sad, considering how common fissues are, but most doctors really don't get it.
