Back story: First fissure was in September 2011 - it cleared up in about 6 months but i did have pain in sitting after that. Never could figure out exactly why. Heat would help and I could sit on cushions pretty much as long as I wanted.
Now to the present: I had a fissure return in 5/14, clear in 7/14, then return a little in 9/14.
In late October, after doing a gentle finger exam and feeling what seem to be the remnants or possibly a small tear, my CRS wanted to give me Botox. I didn't want to do that, given the memories of when I had it in 2011. The injection wasn't that painful, but three months of semi-incontinence was very unpleasant.
Long story short, I had a second opinion with a second CRS who checked me out via anuscope out. He doesn't even do Botox, for whatever reason. I think he's a big believer in LIS. Said he saw no fissures whatsoever.
He referred me to a pelvic floor specialist who checked me out and said that I needed biofeedback. According to her, I was having paradoxical contractions. She checked me out intra-vaginally. Possibly that also means levator ani syndrome?
Whatever is going on, it is very painful after I have a bowel movement, and sitting, but not the cramps that I used to have from fissures. I can even go more than once a day and not get the cramps, so I do believe the fissure is gone.
It's a different feeling. This feels like pure nerve pain. I can't really sit for more than five minutes without ice. I used to like heat and now I need ice.
I am trying to trace the origin of what's going on. Could the anal fissures have caused this?
I also had an injury that impacted my discs in my back this summer and I'm wondering if that might be the source of this nerve pain.
I'm coping with other disk problems from that injury at the moment as well. Just trying to sort things out.
Thanks! PS, heat is much nicer than ice. Hope I can at least get back to heat one day!
