Hi, Im a very nervous and worried newbie. I have had a pain for a year and was told by numerous doctors that i have piles, after trying every cream and pain killer going i was finally sent to a specialist who just inserted his finger in my anus and told me i had an anul fissure. He gave me some cream and said come back in 6 weeks. I went back on 11th January 2013 to be given a hospital date of 6th Feb for "a rectal examination under general anaesthetic fissurectomy and botox". Please can someone give me more info as the hospital gave me leaflets but they only cover my stay not what is actually going to happen to me. thanks

Hi Debs, Welcome. I too am a relative newbie. I have not had surgery or botox ..yet. Can I recommend that you read through the posts on the forum related to these. You will find a massive amount of information for you. The fissurectomy will often be referred to as LIS surgery. I had my first visit with the colorectal surgeon CRS last week. I am astounded that i was not offered any information in relation to my condition or possible outcomes. I would have been lost if i had not found this forum. Good luck and happy reading.
