I still think you could reduce the dose. I put whatever amount I want in 1 cup of water. Seems to work fine!!

I'll give that try if things don't improve, but really think Paul is correct in saying it's the Metronidazole.

Day 7:
Had a good sleep, took me a while to get off though, had that same feeling of moistness down there so went to the bathroom to check, everything was fine, just felt like I was seeping, anyway I woke up at 06:30, and by 7 0'clock I was in the bathroom having my first BM, it was relatively painless with just mild lingering pain afterwards, 20 minutes or so later I was having another BM, still mild-moderate pain, BTW, stools are thin and snake like, must be all the swelling/narrowing of the anal canal.
I had breakfast at 8 0'clock (porridge oats with apple, raisin and sultana), 10 minutes or so after I'm having several more BM's with the same pain outcome as earlier, and cleaning is definitely becoming easier, I then take my first soak in the bath which is really soothing, 30 minutes in the bath and I'm out and drying my anus with a hair dryer, still have pain but it's easily manageable, sometimes I also start itching on the left side of my anus, needless to say I haven't scratched at all! I get dressed and lounge about on the sofa but still cannot sit.
It's now 12 '0 clock so I have some creamy Broccoli and Cauliflower soup which is yummy, then I have several more BM's, same as before, they are like snakes Image but don't cause any serious discomfort, I'm now convinced that it's the Metronidazole causing the many BM's.
I've just had another soak in the bath (2 of 4) I'm keeping with this regime religiously as it definitely soothes the area, same routine, dry anus with hair dryer.
Cleanliness of the anal area is paramount if you want to heal properly and quickly, many thanks to Fissy for the information on this Image
I am 100% devoted to healing this thing for ever and think although the pain is still there that I am slowly making progress day by day.
Anyone reading this shouldn't be discouraged at all, if you're suffering with Fissures, don't suffer in silence, get help and advice from the people right here on the forum, it's free, although they're not GP's or Surgeons, they know how you feel because they are sufferers too (unlike most GP's and Surgeons)

Hey Steve, good stuff, sounds like things are on the upswing now on the anal front.
Interesting that your Miralax comes in 13.5g packets. We get ours in various forms from sachets to jars to bottles, but a daily dose is always given as 17g. Maybe Americans have harder stools :)

Yeah, it sounds like things are definitely improving for you (thank goodness). From reading your Day 7 and my Day 7, I think we are probably pretty close.
It was Day 8 through 10 where I really improved. On Day 7, I think I felt pretty much how you feel now. By Day 10, I felt about 80%, and by Day 12 I felt even better than that. Now, at Day 17, I feel probably 90% or better.

Thanks NG,
I cringe at the thought of a hard stool Image Maybe it's the different additives in American foods Image I'm sure you'll be staying on the "soft" side in the future though, like me, Movicol forever!

Phil, it does sound like we've had the same operation, in a way though, they are both very invasive surgeries, the LIS alone would be a bit more manageable but combined with hemmorhoidectomy or Fissurectomy the pain is significantly raised, personally, I've never experienced pain like it and don't want to again, any time soon..

I agree with you completely.
All I can tell you is that I have no pain at all now. None. After at least 7 years of living in pain, I cannot describe how happy I am.

DAY 8.
Good sleep again, woke up and had several BM's, slight pain after from the surgical site, I say pain but it's more of a stinging feeling, definitely not fissure pain, there is a difference. Around lunch time had quite a good size BM, not wide just long, snake like.. YIKES!! Image No real pain after, just a bit of a sting and it's getting a bit itchy too, but am refraining from scratching by means of the bath. Sitting is still a problem so I'm still shuffling about to get comfortable, have just been for a slow walk but felt like I was walking with something stuck up my a$$, or like John Wayne.... You decide! Image
Same dose of Movicol, same diet, sitz baths regularly.
