Good to hear, Steve. Hopefully, each day will be a bit less painful.

DAY 9:
BM's are not painful, mild pain follows but nothing bad, I can still feel the stitches inside when my sphincter does an involuntary movement, but there are no more spasms as such, BM's are very easily passed, I can tell that it's much more slack down there.
DAY 10:
I'm back into my usual bowel movement routine, pretty much on schedule every morning, I generally go several times then a few more spread throughout the day but none of them are hard to pass, only get mild pain after BM but this wears off as the day goes on, still cleaning the area with cotton wool balls soaked in warm water plus the usual sitz baths and high fibre diet.
I suppose it's too early to say whether the surgery has been a total success but I do feel a big difference when having a BM, my sphincter allows easy passage every time, as I say, it feels quite stretched down there, despite the slackness I still have full control of my bowels, just the first few days after surgery there was a touch of temporary incontinence which was to be expected. I'm now waiting for my 6 weeks follow up appointment (in anticipation) :)

Hey Steve,
That's great! It sounds like you are finally on the road to real recovery.
I walked 18 holes of golf yesterday and felt great. I also had sex for the first time since the surgery and, other than feeling a bit tentative, it was fine.
I'm two weeks from my six week follow up, and I am looking forward to that appointment too. But I'm 99% sure I'm fine. I'm like a normal human now ... well, as close as I'm gonna come.

Great news Phil..
Speaking of sex, I simply haven't been able to participate due to pain and spasms, fortunately I'm improving rapidly, and my wife is very patient.. Image
That "No pain" feeling while having a BM is just so great!

Great news to read that you are feeling better, Steve! What would be the best time to visit London? I just rec'd a brochure about a cruise for next year in July (London, Edinburgh, Invegordon, Lerwick, Alesund, Geiranger, Hellesylt, Belfast, Isle of Man, Dublin, Wales, Cork, Fowey, and back to London!)

That's great news Steve and Phil. It's good to hear that you are both on the well on the road to recovery.
What I find odd since my surgery (and I am largely pain free) is after 5 years of having a fissure sometimes hours go by without me thinking about my butt!

Hey cheryl, whenever you visit London, you can be sure it'll be busy, but July sounds great, sounds like a great cruise.

DAY 11:
Things are pretty normal with the exception of my BM's being substantially bigger than they were before surgery, not wider just long and thin, still have a mild lingering pain that starts after first BM, but doesn't really bother me, have been in my garden all afternoon cutting the grass, weeding etc so I must be feeling better, still having difficulties with sitting, if I sit on the small of my back then it's ok, but if I try sitting up straight then it's painful, must still have internal swelling and have no idea when the sutures will dissolve.
Stopped taking the pain killers and Ibuprofen yesterday but still have a few days Metronidazole left to take, keeping up with the sitz baths for now, same cleaning/drying routine.
