Have i completely healed?

Postby Cheryl » 12 Nov 2007, 04:42

Hi Guys.. Image
im wondering, its now been just over 1 year since my LIS surgery.. i have 'thank god' not had any relapses yet, and im feeling ... well... perfect - touchwood!
Do you think i am totally healed?
Only sometimes do i feel perhaps where my fissure is or used to be if i have a harder than normal BM. But it never hurts..
do you think it is safe to assume that im fixed?
... just wondering?
xx

I think you are still susceptible to an injury if you're not careful. I belive none of us is never 100% in that area, but it is just a guess, Cheryl. I feel SO normal now. No blood or anything.
I bet you're 95% healed and will never have another problem like the one you had initially. But since you had it once, you can have it again, if you're not careful.
Now, you're not wanting to pig out on pizza, are you? Image

I would say a year without incident would put you pretty close to being free and clear. I think as long as you keep regular and get in fiber and water every day you should be fine!!! Image

I remember reading that it takes for month after complete healing for the skin to be 40% as strong as originally and 1 year for the skin to be 80% as strong as originally.

I'd say it's safe to say that you're healed, but reinjury could be around the corner if you're not careful. Still, Congratualtions!!!!

I did not heal , but I wish you fissure free life forever !!!! I would stick with what your buddies said - be on a safe side - keep regular and take fiber - it is good for you in so many other ways :) !!!!!! Congratulation on your full recovery - enjoy your pain free life now to the fullest !!!!!!!!

congrats cheryl.
i think for 1 year out if you are okay, you'll more likely be okay.
i'd say for 2 years free and clear, you've got a perfect rear!
hehehehehee....

thanks for all your support and enthusiasm guys.. i seriously couldnt have made it this far without you!!
I am still keeping on a good high fiber diet, and steering clear of alchol etc coffee..but at least i get the occasional junkfood now..
i know it sounds weird, but im so glad i got my fissure, even though it was like a nightmare most of the time, i now have a really good appreciation for my butt, and my insides and what you put inside really counts ...
thanks again guys

Cheryl - while you are still around ; ), I will use the opportunity to ask you if you remember what kind of anesthesia you had and what kind of instrument they used to cut your muscle (cauter, scalpel or scissors)?
Thanks a bunch in advance :^?<: :arwen:
