help-any ideas?

Postby Guest » 16 Feb 2007, 21:26

o my goodness, sry had to post, didnt no who else i cud ask. my bowels have been playing up the last few days (have severe ibs, possible colitis) and today its terrible. ive been poohing a lot which is ok i can deal with that but i have NEVER been in so much pain with it b4 when i actually go. i have sum pain in the quadrant that usually hurts when i go to the loo and its a bit worse than usual but i put that down to bowels being worse but the really bad pain is from the fissure (well up the back passage so i assume its thr fissure causing the trouble). all day i was passing a lot of stools, i started feeling weak and faint etc etc but the pain got worse and worse(fissure wise). then this evening i went again and it was very painful and i was passing undigested foodthat id just eaten (YUKKKK!!) im now up with diarrhoea and all in all its the worst pain ive ever felt fissure wise. ive had my fissure for yrs but was only diagnosed last yr. i no that having a fissure usually hurts anyway but its never this bad, its too the point that im too scared to even go, but of course with diarrhoea u dont get much say in the matter so i go and i just want to scream (but cant cos people are sleeping). can feel it all spasming in the belly and down below. it hurts so much i feel like i will be sick due to it. im bleeding too but that will be the fissure. i feel like a wimp but i really dunno how to deal with the pain. I need to finish pooping but im too afraid to even push. does anyone have any ideas what i sud do? I thought vaseline but i have none. is there anything i can use to ease the pain? sud i call the dr tom(if they are there as its the weekend) or is there little point? i dont no if its 'that big a deal' but i do know it hurts LOADS so i thought id ask the experts (u!) what u all think!!! thanks for any replies.

Hello Grace
sorry you are in so much pain, have you tried sitting in a warm salt bath for say half hour at a time? Several times a day, or when it is at its worst?
Its important to get the consistency of your BM right, but i know with all your other issues, this can be hard
try as much as possible to get some fiberous foods into you and try to relax.
Have you considered having LIS? I have had it, and a few others on the board and i beleive all of us are doing quite well now.. just a suggestion..
let us know how your going

Something sounds very awry here. If the diarrhea keeps up, it can be dangerous and you seem to be in a great deal of distress. I also don't like hearing the bit about undigested food passing rapidly through your body. Avoid all sweets and hit the fiber, honey! You need LOTS of fluids or you can dehydrate.
I think you might need to see a doctor. Especially if it doesn't begin to clear up real soon. It also can't hurt to go to the store and get an OTC anti-diarreal like Immodium.
Keep us posted!

hey guys, well i got to the dr. they werent a great deal of help. theyve said to start the nitro cream stuff asap, if it doesnt work then surgery. ive been getting other pains and things in my abdomen but i think thats like wind and ibs related issues. the drs have said if that doesnt clear up then its bk to the gastro. i cant tolerate high fibre stuff. im intolerent to lots of foods and they tend to make me have diarrhoea more and abdominal pains. like brown rice i cant tolerate. bread is terrible with me. nuts is a no and i cant have that many fruit and vegetables. having these things just gives me very bad pains and looser stools, sumtimes diarrhoea. my body is very diffcult to sort!!

Right now, I'm thinking you need another Dr. A specialist. I know this is not what yu want to hear, but your body is doing the opposite of what it should (tolerate fiber) and I'm sure it has to do with the IBS/colitis. You need further help...certainly none of us here on this board can give you sound advice (that's gonna help set up healing, that is) because you have too much else going on with your system. What works for us seems to cause you more agony and may even make your condition more severe. Image
I'd be googling the heck out of your conditions/symptoms. If you can find a board that covers IBS there may be folks in your area who can help, or at least lead you to a better Dr. (a specialist!)
