Using your fingers may actually be better. There was a study that showed that "self-massage" was more effective than "self-dilation" for fissures. I just can't to get my finger in there comfortably for some reason.
8/09 - 12/10: fissure, cured by LIS/fissurectomy
1/17 - present: fissure/hemms, healed but pain remained, 3 CRSs (nifedipine, infrared coag) were no help, cold dilating >= 1" helped but still have pain when sitting

Sorry that it's taken so long for me to respond. These are the dilators that I use (13mm and 18mm):

These are what my PT had, but there are probably better ones.
