I cheated yesterday

Postby fire-cracker » 06 Jun 2010, 12:21

I just couldn't take it anymore. My hubby make burgers on the grill yesterday and everytime I went into the fridge I kept looking at them and drooling....so I decided to have 1/4 of a burger, but then later (oh no) I decied to have another 1/4 of a burger. So I ended up eating 1/2 of a burger yesterday Image
I also ended up eating 5, yes 5, peanutbutter blossom cookies...the ones with the hershey kisses. I had them in the freezer and my hubby took them out and I saw him eating one.....well that did it....I caved and ate 5 Image
It didn't stop with the burger and cookies. I also had literally 4 zucchini fries, which really wasn't too bad considering I wanted alot more. I bought a huge box of zucchini fries (not the strips) that I figured that I would bake in the oven instead of deep frying them, but my hubby and my MIL made some for themselves and once again I caved.
I was terrified all night about how everthing was going to come out this morning....not only because I gave in to the burger, cookies and deep fried zucchini fries, but I forgot to take one of my stool softeners yesterday. I normally take 3, but I only took one.
I am happy to report though, even after all the cheating I did yesterday, I did have a very nice and fissure friendly BM this morning.
So....to make up for my cheating yesterday...I am making homemade vegtable soup today even though cooked veggies seem to upset my stomach more than anything "regular" foods. XXXKeeping my fingers crossed that the soup won't kill meXXX.

I don't think one or two little things of this or that makes that much of a difference. It is difficult for people to stay on a very restrictive diet!!!

i cheat all the time...i'm a huge fan of veggies (vegetarian for almost 9 years)...but sometimes i have msg on them, or fry them, or eat them on pizza with (gasp) cheese...
i do eat pasta and bread maybe once a week and even have ice cream once every few months...i actually think i'm lactose intolerant because even though it should be constipating me it actually comes out looser and quicker after i've had dairy (i don't drink dairy milk anymore--my husband and i like rice milk the best of the substitutes--recently discovered thanks to a co-worker and somebody here, cheryl i think, who said i shouldn't be using soy milk anyway because of my thyroid condition)...
anyway, i've been really playing with fire recently because the last 2 or 3 weeks i've felt fantastic and the only medication i'm on right now is my thyroid meds (i'm about 1 month post-op LIS--in fact i'm going to the surgeon for my check up today, fingers crossed...)
i agree with cheryl...every once in a while it's not necessarily going to destroy everything--hopefully...as long as we're "good" most of the time...good luck on finding your balance...

Just want to say that "once in a while" proved to be "butt-deadly" for many members here Image :( !!!
Giving support here for about 2 years , I saw more than fair share of those incidents Image *sigh.
Please all be careful and "eat responsibly" LOL ; )))

I hear what you are saying Fissulyna..believe me I do. I have been feeling guilty about eating those things since I ate them.
But I am wondering (seriously)...Is it not ok to eat the foods that didn't bother your GI system prior to the fissure?????
I have changed my diet so much now that I hardly eat anything or any variety. Chicken, chicken broth and mashed potatoes don't seem to bother me, but I keep reading about eating vegetables so I finally decided to make some homemade vegetable soup yesterday, which did nothing but give me diarrhea this morning.
This whole stinkn' fissure thing has my GI system so out of wack now. I never know what to eat anymore....I'm tired of the same things day after day...darn it I just want to scream, which I do everyday in my head.
If I keep eating nothing but the above mentioned foods...I am just scared that I may end up in the hospital with other problems. Although I have only lost 10 lbs. in the past 3 months...I am a 42 yr. old women, 5 ft. 3 and my weight now is at 90 lbs. I have always been underweight, but my normal underweight weight is 100 lbs. and it's scary to see myself at 90 lbs. and I really don't want to lose anymore.
Please don't get me wrong Fissy....I do greatly appreciate what you are saying....I am just having a "Feel bad for myself" kinda day.

Fire,
Have you ever tried drinking Ensure? I drank that a lot when I was thin because of my AF, and it really helped me put the weight back onto my body.

Yep.....just a couple of weeks ago I started drinking ensure. I am only drinking 1 every other day because it makes me feel really bloated....although I love the stuff. Several yrs. ago I was really sick and lost a ton of weight and that is what my PCP told me to do. I think that I might be the only person in the world who loves Ensure.
