Yes, a lot of the trouble is often muscular, and stress can make it worse. Relaxation definitely helps, though I found it hard to do routine exercises. What really helps me is learning to relax in daily life, trying to take things more slowly. Not always easy, but at least it's one way forward.
2014 Anal fissure
2015 CAT, EUA, sigmoidoscopy, 2 MRI
2016 Pain severe then moderate to low
2017 Moderate pain
2018 Physical therapy, pain management
2019-20 Just living with it
2021 Better, but still have AF

I follow the pelvic floor relaxation yoga by femfusion fitness on youtube. it helps a lot. I did kegel exercise for a few months which is a huge mistake which made my muscle too tense!
