New Here

Postby Mickie » 15 Jul 2017, 12:20

I think I have a fissure that I may have caught early...minimal pain, minimal bleeding. I've been taking sitz baths and applying coconut oil. My question is about what causes fissures. I'm pretty regular and don't have constipation. The only things I can think of is weightlifting at the gym...I do a lot of squats, straining to empty my bladder (long story buy I have a kidney stone) and anxiety. Does any of this sound legitimate to have caused a fissure?

It's great that you've caught the fissure early. I recommend paying a visit to a colorectal doctor and getting some nifedipine ointment so you can heal even quicker. You don't want this thing to turn chronic.

Sometimes fissures can appear out of the blue. If you're constantly straining your pelvic muscles then your sphincter might be hypertonic which can lead to a fissure. Anxiety also causes muscle tension in addition.
8/16-12/16: Fissure due to antibiotics
5/17: Botox to sphincter, fissure healed
9/19: Trigger point injections and pudendal nerve block
11/19: Botox to pelvic floor
8/20: Botox to pelvic floor in new location.
On and off in pelvic physical therapy
