New to this afflication...

Postby TheWeez » 30 Jul 2021, 11:49

Went to the doc beginning of April 2021 with what I thought was a hemorrhoid. He said "yep, you have a small hemorrhoid", and referred me to UVA Medical Center. Went in on Thursday, April 15, and had fissure surgery the following day. It's been almost 14 weeks since surgery and I'm still in constant pain. I'm a network engineer and basically sit in front of a computer for a living. I've literally been standing for 9 hours a day working. By the end of the day, I'm in all kinds of pain and generally feel "swollen" down there for lack of a better description. I used Nifedipine (sp) and still use it to no avail.

A frozen bag of peas eases the pain somewhat but am I destined to be in pain for the rest of my life?

Have you talked to your doctor about the constant pain? It's really not normal and fissure surgery should not lead to this.
8/16-12/16: Fissure due to antibiotics
5/17: Botox to sphincter, fissure healed
9/19: Trigger point injections and pudendal nerve block
11/19: Botox to pelvic floor
8/20: Botox to pelvic floor in new location.
On and off in pelvic physical therapy
