If you are having so much blood that you would describe it as you have as 'heavy' then you should not wait three weeks to get in toe see a GI. Go to your GP, explain to the GP what is happening. We all have blood with fissures from time to time but not so much that it is heavy.

I've had 3 more bouts of diarrhea since my post this morning. No blood in any of them. Thinking I must have reopened my hemmorhoids because the fissure pain is still gone. But my stomach is still going crazy. I can't help but think the fissure is just a side effect of something worse.
I called my doc and they said try could get me in on the 9th as the result of a cancellation, that would be 10 days sooner. But my dad has to have major surgery on the 8th and I really don't want to commit to something the very next day...
