Hi guys
Thanks for all the feedback
Andy- so sorry to hear you're still having trouble. I hope its just the usual glitches after an op and they sort themselves out soon. Does it take a little while to kick in, like when people get botox done on their face? So annoying that you have to wait to get some good results.
Val I think you're spot on, my butt indeed, and no one else's lol! And after what Andy's said I'd be a little wary to try botox. I am planning on being as pushy as possible with the specialists when it comes to LIS. A lot of people here seem to have just been given Anoheal before anything else, but considering just how flipping long this has been going on and how loooooong nhs waiting times are, that's really not what I want.
Dexter I am absolutely 100% with you on the whole cutting the tag off thing. The amount of times I find myself thinking the exact same thing when I get out the shower in mornings! Arghhh I want it gone! I never thought I would miss the butt I used to have but I do! I feel nostalgic for it, those were the days lol. In terms of the big ugly wound, would you say the removal was more trouble than it's worth or worth going for? Did you get your botox and tag removal done over here in the Uk on Nhs? Glad the surgery went well for you, and hope the tag wound heals soon :)

Layla, have you tried Anoheal or Rectogesic? If you haven't it might be worth a quick trip to your GP to get one of them (or both, in case you don't get on with one or the other) If you're having spasms then they could really help you out until you get to see the specialist.
Rectogesic gives some people crashing headaches - I thought my head would explode when I first used it, but not everyone gets that. And its worth the headache as it does relax everything, although again, not for everyone. Certainly worth a try though!

I'm an idiot, I've just read your first post!
If nitro hasn't worked for you, I wouldn't think anoheal would either!
Oh, and the tag removal isn't too bad. If it's done with the LIS, you'll be recovering from it all at the same time.

The funny thing about Rectogsic is it DID work for me for a few weeks and every thing felt fabulous and normal. When I went back to my doctor for a review I said how amazing it was and how much better I felt etc etc and I really thought that was it...then the next day it tore again and was bleeding and whole process started again. I used another tube of rectogesic then it actually started to irritate me for a bit so I had a break from it and used xyloproct.
In past week things have got much worse again- I think not using the rectogesic has caused my sphincter to get much tighter and the xyloproct started to do more harm then good. Would recommend xyloproct to anyone with any itching probs but definitely not for week in week out use. I'm going back to docs on Monday for more rectogesic.
Good to know about the tag removal. I've seen on here that some people have found that bit the hardest but i'm getting to the point where I will do anything to be rid of the little blighter :)

Anoheal made me itch like crazy, yet it was ok when I first used it, the creams must cause a reaction with overuse! Actually, if you asked your doc for a tube of both, like I did, and use one for a couple of days, then the other one for a couple of days, that worked for me, and I didn't have the reaction to the anoheal if I didnt use it constantly. That might work for you!
Yes, the tag removal is fine. If they stitch it, it does feel rather tight and sore, but it's nothing that you wont be able to handle - you've dealt with fissure pain for months, so you can definitely deal with that!

Anoheal and Diltiazem both gave me the crazy itching as well, just recently I tried my old tub of Dilt and sure as anything, after a few days the dreaded itch started, I had to scratch and scratch despite knowing what pain follows, I am now back on the Rectogesic (with headaches)

I had my first fissure 2 years ago and Rectogesic worked like a dream over 2 weeks. Twice a day and just I mild headache that lasted about 10 mins. Lol or so I thought........
Last summer it came back due to a spot of the runs caused by an antibiotic. This time Rectogesic did not work and just before my GP was planning Plan B I started getting terrible migraine like headaches. I came off the the Rectogesic but the headaches went on for another 2 weeks including my eyelid drooping. My GP very quickly got me some scans as he was concerned that I'd had an mild stroke. Thankfully everything came back clear and it was concluded that the Rectogesic was just lingering in my system.
I was just incredibly unlucky and everyone should try Rectogesic first because it can work great sometimes. Plan B was Anoheal which is the brand name of Dialetzam. It did nothing and consultant went straight to LIS option. No mention of botox and I was none the wiser.
I had my LIS last November privately and it cost Ј1400 and they also removed skin tag. I only went private as the NHS waiting list in my area was nearly 3 months.THE op was a breeze and fissure pain was on more. However as many will testify on here the recovery can be slow and painful. I was really unlucky in my recovery phase as I developed a fistula last FEBRUARY which required a second op. fortunately it was a superficial fistula that was just deroofed and no seton was required. At the same time they took off an anal polyp.
So 7 months on where am i? THE old rear end is still a little tender and I live on fybogel for fear of any hard motion. first thing in the morning I break wind like a trooper. thank god I am nowhere near ever dropping a stool without knowing. however I do sometimes have very small leakage after the loo and moist loo roll and Sudacrem are my friends.

Jeez, Mikey, you've been through it!
If you don't mind me asking - did you have to pay again when you got the fistula, or was the fistula the result of the first op? Only asking, as I went privately in 2008(LIS, fistula deroofed, skintag removal) and I went privately again a couple of weeks ago and had a high fistula laid open(didn't think that was possible, but there you go!!!) and got an infection in it, been on antibiotics a week, and still having a bit ofinfection. I'm worried if it is another fistula that I would have to pay for another operation. Is there any "guarantee" time!??

Wow, this is a really informative thread!
I had Botox back in 2008 and it did work for me, but maybe I was lucky.
This time I've seen the CRS once, and was meant to have an appointment again 10weeks later, but that is now and the appt still hasn't come through.
Rectogesic gave me horrendous headaches (not good when looking after 2 kids) so i was on Anoheal. i found that good actually, but when it ran out, my GP prescribed Dilt in a pot, which itched like anything, so I only used it immediately before a BM and tbh I don't think using it like that was any better than plain vaseline as I'm bleeding again now. I've finally been given anoheal again (my GP was adament it wouldn't make any difference as it's the same active ingredient) but after 1 day it seems to be working again. Still on the Laxido morning and night, though. :-)

Well, tbh can't say yet if it was worth taking the skin tag out. My personal feeling is yes, because now it's just gone and it did feel as though it was pulling the area towards it somehow, now it just feels looser, and CRS also said he was thinking the same thing when he took it out...BUT since I'm not healed yet, can't say if it was worth it. Still, the medical consensus was that the skin tag is just the terminal part of some hardened tissue which prevented the wound from closing, so taking it out and letting the fresh wound heal from scratch was the better option. Time will tell...
