Out of surgery and back home

Postby thefer74 » 19 Mar 2013, 20:06

Hi
This afternoon, they did a fissurectomy and LIS. In recovery, I had a good amount of pain. The surgeon came back and put more local around the area. I seemed alot more awake after this surgery. I am not in a lot of pain as of now. I do notice that the local is wearing off and it is becoming sore. I took 1 pain med but debating about taking a valium or waiting for a while. The area is still bleeding quite a bit more than the last surgery. I had to change the gauze twice.
Now the waiting and healing begins. I have never been so scared and nervous going into this surgery. I think I was more afraid of the pain afterwards. They didn't give me valium before going into the OR. They gave me something for the nausea. As they were setting up everything, they gave me something else in my IV and off to sleep I went. Work up 20-30 minutes in recovery. Meds are kicking in, can't see straight. Will write more tomorrow

Jennifer,
So glad you're on the other side of this surgery now and can take each day forward as another step toward recovery and healing. I hope your surgical recovery is as uneventful as is possible. As you feel able, please let us know how you're doing.

Hi
Thanks everyone for your warm wishes. I am doing ok. Dreading that first BM. I did not get alot of sleep last night between the cough, pain and just being uncomfortable. I had the guts to look at my behind this morning and it is severly bruised. Also areas of it are numb. The one thing that I have noticed is the lack of control with passing gas. I hope that this is temporary.
The pain from this surgery is very different. Nothing like the first surgery where I was holding onto the couch for dear life. I am also getting quite a bit of blood. I am assuming that this is normal. When does it go away.
Off to bed, ready to sleep again

Hi
Had a first BM. Thanks to valium and pain meds, I made it through it. It was loose but not that painful. I mostly had alot of bleeding and sat in the tub for a bit. Over the first hurdle.
thanks
Jennifer

Jen glad that you got your surgery and now you are recovering.
I am also glad that you got over the first BM after your surgery, hopefully the blood is due to having more work in the area than the first time.
Take it easy and rest, so you can heal faster. :D
