Return to Chronic Anal and Rectal Pain

Re: Pelvic Floor Dysfunction

All my anal pain started after delivering my daughter; I got a fissure healed within months but the pain remained. I still have pain with bowel movements; the burning is the worst in the evening. I'm seeing a pelvic floor physical therapist that does internal work; massaging the muscles, tissues vaginally or rectally. I've had Botox to the pelvic floor muscles and it did relieve some pain but the burning sitting pain still persists. Yesterday I had internal work done rectally, afterwards I was aching but today I had less burning sitting pain. I will continue to do dilation to mobilize the tissue...

I delivered my daughter via csection and was constipated due to all the drugs.. = fissure

I had the same tiny papercuts sensations and I was told by several doctors that I did not have a fissure anymore... Those sensations went away when I had Botox injected to the pelvic floor muscles but I still get the anal irritation once in a while; some days it is more bothersome.

My skin feels as though its swollen and tender (like swollen hemeroids) but there's nothing there.

"Pain and burning may be due to tight muscles, trigger points, nerve irritability and connective tissue"

OMB,

Scar tissue could be causing your problem or tight pelvic floor muscles...

Thanks for the info Alyssa. I have a PT appointment today so I will talk to her more about the anal pain. I thought it wasn't related to the pelvic floor dysfunction but I'm beginning to wonder. I was also reading about connective tissue dysfunction on this site. www.pelvichealthsolutions.ca

The PT has helped to mobilize the scar tissue (vaginal) from my deliveries so maybe that is what I need rectally for the fissure scars.

Anal pain does have to do with pelvic floor dysfunction... I hope that your appointment goes well. I am seeking a 2nd opinion myself and the cost for the evaluation is $150 U.S. dollars... My pt has me doing kegels which is a no no when you have tight pelvic floor muscles.. Will also update later on how it went.. Remember to get your questions ready (I've got my list) because I tend to forget them when I am in there.

Weird. I would think you would have felt something by now...do you know how much they gave you? Maybe you just need a few more days.

The Botox takes a while for me to feel it; at least it did when they injected it on the pelvic floor. There are so many muscles down there that control or support the sphincter though so while some muscles are tight others are relaxed.. This is just so confusing and frustrating!!!

I don't know the amount they injected but they go based on height and weight 5'2 / 110 lbs...

Today.. I did self dilation with my gloved finger and i no longer feel the internal sphincter area painful but the whole canal canal (skin) feels tender... As though your touching sensitive skin; what the heck is going on in there?
