Pia's Fissure journey update

Postby Pia Alive » 04 Nov 2013, 19:10

:smilyhug:
Hi all my fissure friends.

My apologies for my absence. I put the change of forum site in the too hard basket for too long.

So here I am nearly 12 months since my last chronic anal fissure. As I was sitting on the loo this morning with no fear, no pain and no blood for the past three months and I thought I could finally post here.

Into a nutshell- a miserable, horrible few months that was relieved by many things. Diet, water, warm baths, rectogesic, movicol, one course of Botox and ...time.

I still have a large sentinel tag and scar tissue at the fissure site which is a reminder to keep looking after myself especially post BM hygiene.

I still have rectogesic as a take everywhere item for anal spasm that can still occur afer a firm BM as well as sudocream for the blasted itch that still flares up every now and then. I only use Movicol as a preventative for constipation if I travel.

I am now able to do anything I want in terms of activity, whilst keeping a close eye on my diet and water intake. I am back horse riding every day.

Thank you to everybody on this site for all of your support and advice.

Hi Pia

Your pretty avatar butterfly is etched into my mind.
Good to hear of your much improved condition. Hope
the scar tissue and tag do not give you any problems
and greatly reduce if not disappear.

GL to you

Hi Pia,
It's great to read you are back on your horse! and no longer having to put your life & interests on hold.
You've come so far and done really well.
Hopefully, with time, that scar tissue & sentinel pile issue will reduce. I know I had a few issues with mine and a few sore spots after firmer BMs but with careful eating & no straining, it's all become so much better these days to the extent I do feel pretty "normal" most of the time down there.
I'm not sure if the reminder of it all ever fully disappears but month after month, even the scar tissue seems to calm more & hopefully that Sentinel mass will become less bothersome. I guess, compared to what we go through when everything is so horrendously painful, that nothing is ever so bad at a later stage.....
Take great care of yourself & hoping this will never afflict you again & that at some stage, you will no longer have to use any of those creams & treatments :)

Hi Pia, I'm amazed and thrilled that you can ride your horse again. That is so absolutely wonderful. Congratulations!
Gives me hope I might be able to ride a bike again soon!
Nifedipine/lidocaine, no help
Diltiazem, effective, but caused major rash
Nitroglycerine, effective.
Topical estrogen for final healing.
Gentle heat to bottom - pain relief, muscle relaxant
Kondremul mineral oil
Time - lots of time.
Status - Healed!

I'm really happy to hear anyone's success story, it gives me hope. Good job on your routine.
I would offer one word of caution- If you still have a scar, it can tear back open. I experienced a few months of relief and then relapsed without any sort of real traumatic event. I'm still trying to figure out what happened. But in the last few days I've had a dramatic reduction in the size of my scar tissue. I have a thread about it here called Wheatgrass! in the supplements thread that I am going to update with my progress.
I've healed a few times now back to "normal" but the scar has never gone away or shrank one bit until just now, so I sincerely believe that getting rid of the scar is the only way to fully recover. I hope to have some good news to help everyone here soon.
Good luck on your journey!
