how long were you in pain from the time you found out you had fissures (or you can reconfigure my question if it suits you). i have had a bad one for two months but have had on and off since i fell a year and a half ago. it's interfering with my life. my crs says it's healed now but i still have pain so i am not heading for the hospital just yet but in my mind i am scared and preparing for the day...

8 weeks, but have had problems on and off for years. This was the longest spell that I couldn't seem to heal from. Dr. said it was chronic. I am 11 days out from my LIS and feeling great. Now I am obsessed with my Bm's each day. I need to ensure my diet is good....got a high fiber cereral and try to eat more fruit and veggies. I take Metamucil and stool softeners. I am so relieved...I just NEVER want to have that pain in the a&& again! Image

First fissure late April 2009, but only lasted about 6 weeks and then was gone
Came back late March 2010- I finally had surgery on Feb. 17, 2011 after trying Nifedipine, having colonoscopy, and two rounds of Botox.

Short answer: WAY TOO LONG!
Long answer: About 4 years. Tried all the creams, baths, food, etc. Once the pain got to the point where I couldn't work, travel, etc...I decided LIS was the only route for me. 5 weeks post-op I wish I'd done this years ago.

About 3 years here, but it's so difficult here in the UK to get where you want to be, I had to try every available cream and ointment there was and 4 different CRS!
BTW, I've had ass issues for 11 years in total

My fissure was chronic and painful every day from day 1. I had LIS After 6 months of daily pain. The wait was mainly due to waiting for an appointment with a CRS, getting the right diagnosis, trying 2 rounds of rectogesic (glyceryl trinitrate) and then being booked in for surgery.

About 3 months. It got to the point I couldn’t walk and everything was so tight down there I couldn’t barely pass anything. I’m 2nd day after surgery.
