Hi Zodiak..... Welcome to the forum!

Firstly, I would suggest reading through as much of the forum as possible to get tips and advice. I found it a god send at the start.
You can buy a sitz bath off amazon. Mine has been a godsend... The warm water around your butt really helps things relax... And get clean after a bm. It really helps take some of the pain away... Which sounds like you could do with!

I must say I was a little shocked at your crs's response.... Sounds like an ar*e to me! I had the same problem as you... The crs worked in the local private hospital. In the end I travelled to London and saw a private crs, who offered to treat me on the nhs. He is great... I highly recommend him... I can give you his details if you want them.

Marathon girl,
Sorry to hear your struggling so much with your feelings. I don't think any one else would realise what a huge impact an anal fissure has on your mental health. My only advice is to keep busy... But don't push yourself too hard. Just keep reminding yourself that things will get better... It just takes time.

Thanks, I might give that a try instead, my problem tends to be too much some times too.
When this first started I was incredibly snappy and nobody could understand why I was grumpy, and to be honest they don't really want to know the details, but have got used to checking with me before committing to anything.

Hi Zodiak,

I am UK based too and I went to see my GP and was refered to the NHS within 3 weeks (as it turns out I couldn't wait that long and had botox privately) I have a long, chronic and deep anal fissure though so have been re-refered to NHS as a fall back plan, this time it took 4 weeks, but they are very good, just make sure you see a CRS within the NHS. I really can't see you having any problems, just explain all your symptoms and only a total idiot would not realise you have a fissure lol. All the best to you, I feel your pain...literally lol PS- Botox is fantasic, it releases SO much of the pain and cures most people. I haven't had LIS, but it is permanant so has a higher success rate.

Thanks.
Yesterday was my Son's university graduation and there was no way I was going to miss it no matter how uncomfortable. I was a bit worried it would have a backlash today, but so far it has been fine, in fact better than normal so maybe a long train journey followed by lots of walking and sitting on hard seats is good for me :o

Good to see you didn't let it stop you going to the graduation. A little improvement is good, keep fighting.

Thanks, things are improving but its not there yet. Still the trend is in the right direction and if every day is just a little better then eventually it will all be history.

Thanks. The original fissure doesn't hurt so long as I keep BM nice and soft, the issue is the second tiny tear higher up, which has almost healed but was where the burning stabbing pain was coming from.
My GP thinks I have nerve damage and has put me on medication which stopped it stone dead, which is great, unfortunately I can't drive while taking it as I feel as if I had just downed half a dozen shots of vodka.
It all still itches, but I will swap that for the pain any day.
