You should use only a small amount of Rectogecic about a pea size, twice a day. Start with one at night before bed and see how it works for you. The second dose you shoul use it during the day after your BM. I read in another post of yours that you are having running BMs and more than once a day. Maybe you are taking too many stool softeners? Try to cut slowly on them until you get the consistence you are looking for. Running BMs are as as bad as hard ones for a fissure. Try to have only one BM movement a day until the fissure is healed.

I used to have the runs twice a day and pass wind with ease. In the lat 1-2 weeks I struggle to go once a day and I have to push on my perinium to get it out. I also seem unable to pass wind causing me great discomfort. I don't know what went wrong in the ,sat few weeks. I felt good until then :-(.

I have cramps in my bowels and a pressure and ache in my rectum/anus. I tried the dr again last night he didn't help me at all.

Ouchie, I don't know what do you mean to had the runs. Is it means that you had running BMs? If it was like that. Your fissure could have gone pretty bad from this. Because hard stools and running stools are equally very bad for a fissure. Also going more that once a day didn't help. What you describe now sounds to me like your anal sphincter went into a spasm. You see when you have a fissure the sphincter contracts as a way to protect your anus, "The increase in anal sphincter muscle pressure results in a decrease in blood flow to the site of the injury, thus impairing healing of the wound. Ensuing bowel movements result in more pain, more anal spasm, diminished blood flow to the area, and the cycle is propagated." So that's why you find very difficult to have a bowel movement now. The key for getting better., Is to relax the sphincter and that is why Rectogesic can help you. Rectogesic is not for cure the fissure, is for the relaxation of your anal sphincter so the fissure can heal. Rectogesic + soft BMs will permit your fissure to heal. Now, the wind pass problem is a common thing, when you are at the state you are even pass wind can hurt like hell. Believe me I was there too. I am not a Doctor ouchi, what I am telling you is only some probable answers to your problems, based in my experience. But if you see that you are not getting better or actually get worse. You should go to your doctor ASAP.

"Ice packs" work best for me, water bottles "break". Cheap ones break Ice Especially if outdside, take breaks find somewhere to sit and 'relax'. The grocery store is a real bunmmer, need to sit down on ice pack for a few minutes in the isles and then people "rush" over and think I am having a "heart attack" Madness!!

This is my first time posting to any board, but just want to share what helped me. I was diagnosed with an AF a few weeks ago  ....WOW did it hurt! It hurt to basically do anything...especially after a BM :poop: ! It hurt to wipe and everything else I didnt know how to properly sit down on the toilet or anything. The only relief was when I was taking a nice warm shower, epsom salt bath soak or pain pill for sleep. I did some research and I called a friend who has a health food store and explained to him my painful situation. he said give him an hour and call back. I called back and he said that in order to heal properly you must heal from the INSIDE OUT!!! He recommended wheat grass, organic liquid flax seed oil and aloe vera gel natural full strength. I was told to take 1 tablespoon of wheat grass, 1 tblspoon flax seed oil, 2 tblspoon of aloe vera gel and mix this is 10-12 oz of water and drink one when I wake up and 1 when I go to sleep. I could not believe that within 3-4 days I have not had any pain or issues and the swelling has gone away. My BM :poop: do not hurt and I am not afraid to go to the bathroom. I am able to sit down without pain and continue back to my cardio exercises. I was told to drink a minimum of 96oz of water a day. I did alter my diet somewhat to foods easier to digest.

Another vote for wheatgrass! Thanks TruMoo!
Nifedipine/lidocaine, no help
Diltiazem, effective, but caused major rash
Nitroglycerine, effective.
Topical estrogen for final healing.
Gentle heat to bottom - pain relief, muscle relaxant
Kondremul mineral oil
Time - lots of time.
Status - Healed!
