Re: From Botox to LIS

Postby vdb324 » 12 Apr 2014, 20:24

Lately, it has been doing much better. It has turned to more itch than pain, and the CRS said the itching typically means it's healing.

My LIS was slated to be three months (12 weeks) after my last Botox injection. I'm not sure if that was on purpose, though, or if it was just the earliest time they could get me in for the procedure. I wasn't advised of any complications of having the two next to each other, but from what I've heard, the Botox usually wears off in 2-3 months. I think you would want it to wear off, so that the relaxed muscle from Botox isn't further exacerbated by the LIS relaxation. But, I can't speak from a surgeon's point of view; this is only my own thought process.

Just wanted to update this, so there's a full account here.

Two weeks after (around the time of my last post) - very little pain; blood every day or two
Three weeks after - no pain; still blood every other day (have been using the gauze less, too)

As a side note, I've seen a lot of concerns about the pain of LIS. I have to say that in my experience the pain from LIS was less than my Botox with tag removal procedure back in October.

Also, wanted to say I just saw my CRS for my pre-op this morning and she said to expect some blood for about 6 weeks. Hope that helps you some. So very happy to hear you are doing better!!!!
