Nitroglycerin and urinary incontinence

Postby Jbl22424 » 30 May 2014, 22:21

Do any other ladies out there notice problems holding in urine while on nitro? When I upped my dosage, I would have a lot of trouble holding it in, especially when sneezing or when I had to go badly. I wasn't sure if it was the nitro or the fact that I had a baby six months ago but I didn't remember it being as much of an issue before I was on nitro. I've been off it for almost two weeks and the issue seems to be gone. Anyone else experience the same thing? I suspect it would be different for men than women but who knows.

Hi Jbl
I didn't notice any problem with incontinence, and I was on nitro for several months.
With that kind of incontinence, you can do kegel exercises to strengthen your pelvic floor muscles (you probably know that already).
Having babies does all kinds of things to your body, it really wouldn't be surprising if that was the root cause.

How are you doing off the nitro? Would you consider a different ointment, eg diltiazem or nifedipine? They have a different mode of action, so are worth a go if you still suspect the nitro.
Nifedipine/lidocaine, no help
Diltiazem, effective, but caused major rash
Nitroglycerine, effective.
Topical estrogen for final healing.
Gentle heat to bottom - pain relief, muscle relaxant
Kondremul mineral oil
Time - lots of time.
Status - Healed!

Well, I had LIS so no longer on the nitro and doing great! Ya, I figured it might be the having had a baby part.
