Hi, I am new obviously, but today I can't take the pain anymore. I am considering going to the ER when my husband gets home just to get any help to ease this pain. Its so intense it made me vomit.

I have had three chronic Anal fissures for five years now. I have never gone to the ER for them because I just would deal with the pain. I can't and I am feeling ashamed to walk in there because of this problem, but I can't sleep, I can barely walk, and I definitely can't sit without feeling intense pain. Its just an ache now, and excruciating ache however, and I have no idea what else to do.

Im just feeling very down, I'm only 25 and I just don't know why I have to go through this . I am discouraged and feel like I should just suck it up because there is probably someone who REALLY needs to go to the ER, and that i shouldn't. Sorry if I am not making much sense, I am just in terrible pain and my quality of life is dwindling.

If you can't tolerate the pain then I would suggest you go the E.R, please don't be ashamed that's their job. Can you try sitting in warm water until your husband gets home?

you poor thing, of course you should go to ER, and hopefully they will get you in to see a colorectal specialist as soon as possible. If you have not seen a CRS yet, you (or your husband, since he is probably feeling stronger than you right now) should insist on a referral.

You need and deserve to get help. There is nothing to get embarrassed about, and nothing they have not seen before.

I would recommend having your husband with you in the exam room. Ask the doctor what he's going to do, before he does it. Don't tolerate any examination that's painful. If it is, let them know they are hurting you, and your husband will be able to back you up.

I agree with Alyssa. Warm water or a warm hot water bottle can soothe the pain.

Five years are a very long time to suffer. Can you tell us more about what treatments you have tried, what doctors you have seen, and what tests you had done? Maybe we can help.

Thank you everyone, my husband is on his way to take me. I first was examined by my GP and she saw one tear. I was given nitroglycerin ointment. I was on muralax for years, but then felt I was getting better and stopped. Then they came back, even more so then the first time. I have a colonoscopy after attempting to have one three times but not being able to tolerate the medicine that cleanses your innards, as it was making me vomit profusely. I finally was able to have the colonoscopy and it showed three fissures, or fistulas, its been a minute since I was examined, and so I started taking supplement such as B6 vitamins, taking flaxseed oil, wheat germ oil, olive oil among other things to help lubricate. Cut out all meat from my diet, and just lived with it because I was and am terrified to get surgery, and no one has talked about botox before with me. Either way- the hospital I am going to is ranked number on in the US in its gastroenterology department. Hopefully they can give me some sort of pain medicine to help so I can actually sleep. I just kind of gave up and just settled and now I just can't take it anymore and I am ready to fight again.

Mc, sorry for your suffering, I'm glad you are going to the ER to help manage the pain. If you have a fissure for that long surgery may be the best option. Consult the CRS and maybe get a second opinion. After so long it will probably not heal itself. Also agree soaking in warm water might help the pain. Good luck we are here for you.

So sorry that you are dealing with this terrible pain. I do hope you get relief soon and as surgery is scary to think of, the recovery can't be much worse than what you have already been through. That's how I try to think about it although I have not had surgery yet. I had botox injections about a month ago and it seems to be working. I am also watching my diet and taking lots of supplements. Please keep us posted and hang in there! You are not alone
