Nitro/Rectiv causing pressure/tension, weird side effect

Postby cuzco » 29 Aug 2014, 22:40

I was wondering if anyone else is getting this weird side effect from Rectiv: sometimes after application I'll feel like my rectum is under a lot of pressure. It kind of feels like when your leg falls asleep, but inside your anal canal. It usually happens when I apply it at night and goes away by the time I wake up. It happens maybe twice a week.

I brought this up to my CSR and she said she's never heard of it, but vein dilation could explain the pressure I feel. I tried switching to diltiazem but it gave me a burning rash and didn't keep the pain at bay.

Rectiv is doing at awesome job at keeping me pain free but this side effect is weird and I can't find anyone else online reporting this.

Sorry Cuzco, I've never heard of that. Maybe somebody else knows. It's good that rectiv is at least helping you with pain. Maybe you could try nifedipine. It's similar to diltiazem but seems not to cause rashes.
Nifedipine/lidocaine, no help
Diltiazem, effective, but caused major rash
Nitroglycerine, effective.
Topical estrogen for final healing.
Gentle heat to bottom - pain relief, muscle relaxant
Kondremul mineral oil
Time - lots of time.
Status - Healed!
