Hi SS,

Good to hear from you.... Yes, I'm taking sick time off, I'm making sure I can have the best shot of getting rid of this hell forever, so I'm not going back to work after the op too quickly. How long did you take off work? Are you healed? As J said do we have a success story? I hope so....

Hi J, how are you?

Hi A, yes, they know I'm in pain.... But on the NHS in England you still need to wait.... Sigh. I'm praying I can get through the next 5 weeks!

Hi all,
Well it's just 4 weeks yesterday until my LIS.... I'm getting pretty scared now, and keep thinking horrible things! I need a new brain after all of this...... Still on the same rollercoaster really, good and bad days, spasms are pretty bad and the pressure feeling is damn awful! I hate my bottom!

Hi Racheal,

It's natural that you are scared as there are unknowns with any medical procedure. I was scared before the surgery and after is was over, I realized it was not that bad. Our minds have a way of dwelling on the bad. Try to think about the positive of not having fissure pain after doing the surgery and a fissure free life. The LIS is a simple surgery and it takes about 10 minutes. Once your fissure pain is gone and you are healed, then, you will be like me worried about a re-tear.

Thanks Roids,

Positive thinking is the key.... I'm in pain again today, so it damn hard..... I don't think the fear will ever leave me.... Even when I'm sorted! X

:naughty: Hi all,
Had my pre-op today...... All was okay. I go in 2 weeks on Wednesday. :poop:
Can anyone give advice on what medication has been effective after LIS... The nurse suggested cocodomol and ibuprofen...not too sure if they will be strong enough? She also said the CRS may want me to take Antibiotics too.... Don't like the idea of that as it will affect my stomach! Agh! Panicking!

I will have a list of questions to ask him on the morning of the op and I hope I'm first on the list or the anxiety will build! :groan:

I took hydrocodone (vicodin) for pain and diazepam (valium) for spasms. Those helped a lot. No antibiotics. Best of luck, very excited for you!

I've not had LIS, but after both C-sections all I had was ibuprofen. It works very effectively for me.
Nifedipine/lidocaine, no help
Diltiazem, effective, but caused major rash
Nitroglycerine, effective.
Topical estrogen for final healing.
Gentle heat to bottom - pain relief, muscle relaxant
Kondremul mineral oil
Time - lots of time.
Status - Healed!
