Hi Caroline,
I'm 5 days post LIS.... Hang on in there, things will improve slowly. How long have you been suffering? I think it will take a while For things to settle.
Can you avoid white products? White pasta, Rice, Bread etc is more binding.... Go for brown, and I find a big help for me is flaxseed in my porridge each morning it is a start with soluble fibre which will soften the stool(recommended by my dietician). There is a link in the diet section on Fibre in foods, I'm sure posted by another forum member, have a look there.
Soluble softens and Insoluble fibre helps everything pass through.
Things that help me.
Water 2l inc Herbal Tea and Decaff Tea (Caffeine can constipate)
Flaxseed (in porridge or smoothies)
Snacks -Naked Bars (made of fruits, all natural) Satsumas, Strawberries, Kiwi. Quinoa crisps (Easily Digested)
Meals- Fish and Meat(White meats) No Red! Vegetables, especially Carrot, Courgette, Green Beans and Butternut Squash. potatoes, Jacket, Sweet, Mash and New. Everything cooked from scratch. I also eat Wheat and Gluten free.
Medication- 2Vit C 2Magnesium Am Night time 2 Movicol, 2 Magnesium. Recently added Zinc for healing.
You may need to experiment to get the right consistency. Keep me posted.xxxx
