I just picked up lidocaine but the nifedipine takes a couple of days to get compounded.

Thanks for asking Alyssa. I am still on the fence. One day I want LIS, another I want botox and another I want to do nothing. Until I am sure I will do nothing. Don't want to make things worse again :(

As others have mentioned in forums only you can decide when you have had enough and decide to have surgery

I definitely get more pain sitting down so I have bought one of those donut cushions for the car. Helps with the trips in the car.

I try to stand up most of the day to keep myself reasonably active. I have been told to give up riding the bike by my pain specialist but I feel more depressed if I don't exercise.

Mine is mostly burning but I must admit sometimes I get an irritation that's more crawling and itching.

I think it's more than likely nerve pain. Pelvic floor muscle spasm entraps the nerves in the area I think?

Pafen, be very careful when you sit on one of those donuts! I did, and I had a re-tear because of it. I think there was way too much pressure on my bum when i was sitting on it. Don't wanna make things worse. :)

The irritation is something I really wonder about... My bum just does not feel normal! This irritation is driving me nuts; how do I calm it down?

I had hemoroids in the past and surgery and this irritation beats that!!!

Alyssa, what do you mean by irritation? What does it feel like? I have had irritation/pain down there for over 10 years and in that time have rarely been able to sit for more that a short period of time. I am fortunate to have been able to work my life around it but I totally hear your frustration. There were times that the botox really helped but it would always come back :(

Have you tried using heat? Before I ever found treatment I used to sit on a heating pad all the time. It really helped. Or maybe ice would even help. Sometimes alternating the two can confuse the nerves and help too.

Yeah I use one of those wheat heat pads you can heat up in the microwave. A lot cheaper than the sitz baths all the time.

I feel irritation outside of the anus.. I notice it when I am standing or walking... It's hard to describe it exactly but it's prickly irritation. I never had that before this fissure!
