Why are we still in pain? Well I have seen 4 colorectal surgeons, had 3 colonoscopies just to be sure, many proctoscopes. They all tell me that everything looks normal.
Instead of trying too many things at once, I am trying them one at a time then moving onto the next thing. At the moment I have started up daily physical therapy and will see a pelvic floor physiotherapist on a regular basis. I will give this 6 months at most to work.
Next Tuesday the 14th October I will see my pain specialist as well. See what he recommends. He told me that he never used to see a lot of chronic pelvic pain patients except for the the last few years. He sees quite a lot now he said. I am prepared to try what he thinks if the physical therapy doesn't work. Possibility of an injection into my piriformis muscle, Botox into pelvic floor, lastly sacral nerve stimulator.
Alyssa,
He has me on 25mg of endep at night to help with the burning. I also was offered lyrica at 75mg twice a day. I don't really like the side effects of this medication so I take it during the day only when I need it when I am active. For breakthrough pain when it's really severe burning I have 5mg oxycodone tablets.
