I've read it can take up to 2 years for a fissure to fully heal and the tissue to reagain strength. I asked my CRS how long post-op to heal and was told some can heal in just a few weeks and some take "much longer". I think it depends on many different factors.

Nothing new to report. I have days where I feel great and wonder if LIS is necessary. Then, the next day my bum reminds why I'm doing it. I'm so nervous about the first little while afterwards. I'm not in a lot of pain right now and don't want to go backwards. I hope I don't get an infection or abscess!

I stopped the fish oil and suppositories. I've been applying lidocaine before my BMs. It works amazing well at preventing any pain. I really wish I'd given it more of a chance early on.

ok thanks, its just wearing on me. did your surgeries work? right now my backup plan is to ask my GI to put me on Uceris again. it healed the first fissure in about 6 weeks, then i went off it and flared and a few weeks later had this fissure im dealing with.

Thanks, student. Hopefully, between your GI and CRS you can find some relief.

OMB - It sure seems that's how it always works out! :) I have considered waiting. I'm terrified of another retear, though. I'm not sure I could handle it, especially knowing it takes about 3 weeks to get on the schedule for surgery. And I'm so tired of living like this - constantly worried about retears and stressing over every bite I take. I'm trying to take it as a good sign that the stars pretty much aligned for surgery on Monday. She got me on the schedule quicker than normal, my husband got time off, childcare is covered, and my dad is coming to visit soon after.

Thank you!! :smilyhug:

I'm sitting in the waiting room now. I'm more nervous about how I'll feel tomorrow than I am about the actual surgery. Wish me luck!
