New girl

Hello, I'm a 27 year old mom of two kids. I had an LIS, fissurectomy, and IRC in April of this year. I am having the same problem again, pain and bleeding. I was told I have another AF, smaller than the initial one. I have been through the other treatments of creams and stuff. So my question is, have any of you had to have a second surgery? I have one scheduled for Thursday and I'm really nervous. I'm hoping the only reason it didn't resolve was that the dr was "conservative" with his cut.

Hi Ouch, so sorry to hear that this beast has reared its ugly head again for you. I have no experience with LIS but wanted to ask if you are having spams? If not, the surgery will not help you? What is IRC? How long did you use the creams for? There have been some on here that have gotten a second LIS, some who faired well and some who didn't and then disappeared so I am not sure what to say about that. I have heard that you can get an ultrasound to see how much muscle was cut the first time...

Thanks for your reply. I do have spasms. They are most noticeable and painful in the hours after bm. The IRC was infrared coagulation for a few hemhorhoids. But those don't seem to be causing the problem although they aren't gone. And I used the proctosol for a few weeks at a time a couple times. And the diltiazem for 6-8weeks for 4 courses. I've been dealing with AF for about 3 years. It first was diagnosed about halfway thru my last pregnancy. My surgery was 6 months ago and I feel like I should have more relief. I think my best bet is to have the surgery again. But also nervous since it's a scary thing. Mostly that area, it's not like you can just not use the area for a while lol

My CRS said she's recommended 4 patients in 11 years to have 2nd LIS procedures. She said all 4 were due to her not cutting enough. Three chose the 2nd surgeries and healed completely afterwards.

That's reassuring! I hope this second one helps me. So you have your first LIS next week?

I hope it helps you, too! Yes, having my first (hopefully only) LIS Monday. I'm nervous, but confident in my CRS. I'm looking forward to this being over.
