Does this mean you are not feeling much relief Alyssa?

Were you assessed for sphincter tone? Like anal manometry? You didn't have the sphincter muscles botoxed right?

Did they check you for neuropathy?

I feel that my pain has decreased but it has not been completely eliminated... My rectum is still tender to the touch... Bm are also less painful than before. I just thought Botox was going to take the pain completely, and it did not. After having a large bm (quarter size) my bum was hurting (soreness/ burning) for a couple of days afterwards. The Botox was not injected in the sphincter, only on the pelvic floor.

My pt said that my muscles are more relaxed than the week before and that my Anal tone decreased but she only assessed it with her finger. It is still painful when she massages me rectally... I thought Botox was going to solve all my problems and it has not. I have a follow up appointment October 3 to assess what's next... Do you think it's too soon to tell if Botox will/ is going to work?

I do think it is too soon Alyssa. Please don't give up hope. I really feel that the pelvic floor muscles can take up to a month to balance out, especially the first time you get botox. You may even need to get it in the sphincter. I also think that you may need more than one session. It took me a few to start getting a good relaxation down there. It may also take multiple sessions for your Doctor to get the right muscles. The problem with this treatment is that it is so trial and error and you have to have so much patience. Hang in there.

Thanks for the support... When I'm standing, I feel almost normal except for the irritation... Bm and prolong sitting are the worst. I will be patient with it, I just get days of depression and frustration because this is never ending.. I know you and others can relate; we all have good and bad days.

Alyssa, I'm in the same boat. I'm supposidly healed but pain/burning/stinging after BM, sphincter painful to palpate/touch.
no answer in sight.... even my 'soothing' creams burn something awful when i apply them
I feel so low.
Suffering since June 2013

Methods tried:
GTN cream - migraines!
Manuka Honey / Coconut oil / Aloe
tag excision X 2, botox x 3
Dilatiazem
dilatation 2 X daily + Retin-C Vitamin Scar Treatment Oil 2 X daily - best thing ever.
Now pain free 2/7/21

I was wondering the same thing... Even lubricant burns a little (internal physical therapy)

Alyssa, do you know what kind of lubricant your physio uses? My physio told me that quite a few people have a glycerin sensitivity. Glycerin is in a lot of the cheaper, water based lubricants. Glycerin definitely burns my skin down there.

She uses slippery stuff personal lubricant gel; water based; paraben & glycerin free... I use it at home vaginally with my wand and it doesn't bother me there... Only in the rectum.
