Officially diagnosed: fissure and tag

Postby Mae » 07 Apr 2015, 10:43

I finally got a diagnosis and I was so nervous that it would be a really bad fissure since it was long term but he said it didn't seem to bad. I just keep aggravating it and reopening it because I'd get constipated again. He said to just keep doing what I'm doing with the water and fiber and miralax when needed, and if it doesn't get better we'd try diltiazem

I feel a lot more pace now because I don't have hemorrhoids, just a sentinel pile ...but it doesn't hurt me and my body seems to be doing is job in healing me.. provided I do my job and drink metamucil!

Hi Mae

I have the same thing you do. First doc said it was a hemmerhoid but in fact it's a sentinel tag caused by the fissure. Hemmerhoid are often misdiagnosed.

Keep working the program I wish you the best

Yup. It's weird because I thought only really bad fissures developed tags. But he said that isn't always the case necessarily? And even though I've had mine for awhile now, the tag appeared pretty early on. I kinda assumed they took awhile..

Yes well the more I research the more I find out that this condition is not an exact science so to speak. Took me 3 doctors before I found out what I currently have going on down there. The latest doc will refer me if I don't start improving in a few weeks. I am staring at nitroglycerin ointment and natural remedies, not sure what route to take.

First had a fissure 7 years ago, it took a year before it settled down. I used nitro cream and a soft diet, never considered surgery.

Over the last few years it has bothered me on an off, but has now fully returned like 7 years ago. I'm at the end of my rope.

So chronic then. I'm not sure if mine is acute or chronic. Since it only hurt a few weeks and then became asymptomatic for nearly four months (I never went to a doctor back then so I don't know if it closed up but I'm assuming it must have)

As for you, I know surgery sounds scary but a lot of people on here have had it and been happy with the results... I know if mine lasts longer than a few years I'm not gonna be able to stand it anymore so in gettin that surgery xP

Is your current CRS a good one?
