Bah! Wee set back this afternoon, so annoying and depressing but trying to stay positive, glad I was forewarned that it is normal. Trying to relax during a BM while the wee boy is screaming is a bit tricky. Went to the doctor who said she would put through a referral but the public specialist probably won't get in contact as it is not urgent, bah again! Or I could pay $300 for a consultation privately which I don't have. I tried to explain that I think the hemmie is actually a sentinel pile but I get the feeling the doctor didn't know what that was. I asked about Diltiazem but it is not available in topical form.

Bit of a off load here.

Hi Hopefull,
Dilt. is definitely available in topical form - they have to compound it (ie mix it at the pharmacy) so it may depend whether there is a compounding pharmacy where you live.
A hospital surely must have a compounding pharmacy, so if you think it's important to try dilt, I'm sure you can get it. But dilt. is problematic for many people (including me), causing an itchy rash. Nifedipine is another option. Mine was compounded, but it's also available ready made, in topical form mixed with lidocaine.
Nifedipine/lidocaine, no help
Diltiazem, effective, but caused major rash
Nitroglycerine, effective.
Topical estrogen for final healing.
Gentle heat to bottom - pain relief, muscle relaxant
Kondremul mineral oil
Time - lots of time.
Status - Healed!

It's very frustrating that so many doctors know very very little about this condition. Mine too said hemmerhoid, it's a sentinel tag, likely a fissure

Yes you can get any of nifedipine, nitro or diltiazem from any compounding pharmacy

I wasn't aware that some pharmacies compound, will check around and see how I go. Thanks for letting me know about that.
