I am taking this fissure/s very seriously, because 1.5 years ago I had a fissure that got infected and turned into a fistula with a huge and very badly infected absess. The recovery from surgery was horrific, including a week off work and 2 months off from running. So although what I have now is nothing in comparison, I want to get rid of it ASAP while still be able to run/train. I agree with you that sweat can irritate it. It will be interesting to see what happens when I start running in hot weather (soon, where I live). This morning for my 10k run, I applied this oil I found on the internet called "H Fissures Formula" and also applied Body Glide (anti-chafing stick) to the surrounding area and I had no pain, stinging or irritation during or after the run. I've also read that having a sitz bath in coconut oil is very helpful, so I'm going to buy some today.

With my previous fissure, both my family doctor and Gastro specialist said that running is OK as long as it's not painful. Here's hoping.

Wow sorry to hear about that. That will be just another thing I will worry about. Have you been prescribed anything topical? Im on Nifedipine. I don't know if it contributed to me having the month of relief or not, but I would think these creams work really good for fissures that aren't too deep.

I should revisit the coconut oil. I started using it in March when this fissure first started but did nothing. I don't know... you get to the point with these things where you start believe nothing will work other than them taking care of the muscle surgically. This is the first fissure that has caused me this kind of pain.

Promised my wife I would chill with the running this week as an experiment to see if the situation tones down a bit.
