Those of you who had urinary symptoms...

Postby Jimmy7223 » 11 Jul 2015, 13:25

Can you please describe what you dealt with. How long did they last? What did they feel like?

I am starting to get concerned that my symptoms are normal and not related to the anal fissure.

Thank you for your help!

Not sure what you mean by urinary systems, but will just say what happened to me during the time that my AF was at its worst.

I had pain in the whole area, and difficulty in peeing, but this has - in general - improved now. I do have some problems concerning being unable to control a small amount of wee dribbling out if I leave it (going to the loo) too long.

That's about it.

I thought I had a bladder infection because of pain in the urethra. I didn't though - it was referred pain. No incontinence, luckily.
Nifedipine/lidocaine, no help
Diltiazem, effective, but caused major rash
Nitroglycerine, effective.
Topical estrogen for final healing.
Gentle heat to bottom - pain relief, muscle relaxant
Kondremul mineral oil
Time - lots of time.
Status - Healed!

I'll be specific about where I am at now with my symptoms...

At first, 3 months ago, when I was first diagnosed with the fissure, I had to pee constantly. Always felt like my bladder was full, always felt like pee was about to drip out on my urethra, would go to the bathroom to relieve myself and nothing would come out at times, or very little.

Now, the fissure has visibly cleared...only pain that remains is a dull ache in the rectum, feels like a bruise...only really when I am sitting.

The urinary symptoms have calmed as the fissure has healed (or they were never related to begin with...) but now I feel a constant dull ache in my urethra located within my scrotum between my testes near the perenium. I feel like I need to pee pretty regularly but it is not an emergency feeling like it was before. It is just a mild discomfort and annoyance. Like a pain of 3 out of 10.

Sounds very similar to what I had - except I am a female. I also suffered from pain in my coccyx for at least a year. Gradually ( and I mean gradually ) all the referred pain was relieved. It took time for me. Almost two years...

I appreciate your responses. It was just concerning that the proctologist looked at me a week ago and told me I am healed, yet i still have pain and discomfort. He should have told me that this pain could continue for quite a while after it is visibly healed.

I guess what it feels like is my anus or sphincter gets very tight every once in a while which i think may cause me to feel like i need to urinate.

I just get worried that there is something else going on like a pelvic floor issue...and the doctors unfortunately seem to know less than me about pelvic floor issueswhich is very discouraging.

You may want to seek out a pelvic floor specialist, I think that is my next step.

I too have urinary symptoms along with the fissure, the bladder and anal Sphincters are close together and one can effect the other. Sometimes I don't empty completely or I get periods where I have to pee every hour or more through the day, annoying to say the least.

It sounds like we have similar symptoms. 4 months ago when this first started I felt like constantly had to pee...felt like my penis was dripping, would try to pee but couldn't occasionally. Very scary...did not know what caused it. Not reAlizing I even had an anal fissure that caused this because I was so concerned with the urinary symptoms.

Now 4 months later the fissure is visibly clear but still have discomfort. I still get this feeling from time to time, not as bad as before but it's just uncomfortable. Is this just a part super slow healing process.

It will get better over time, it does take time and patience, hang in there
