Nothing soothes. Anyone else?

Postby Cupcake » 11 Aug 2015, 15:00

Hi Everyone,
I'm new here, been reading posts for a while.
This is my 3rd bout with a fissure. Was previously self- healed for about a year. It seems everything I use irritates me at this point- coconut oil, Fissure Control, even a bath, seems to leave me with irritation. I'm past the point of the excruciating pain, but I do still have pain. The only thing that makes it feel better is either Tucks or Witch Hazel I have read is bad for the fissure.

Anyone else have this experience and did you find anything that was not irritating to your fissure while healing?

Thank you. :-)

Hi,

My experience is that almost everything irritates fissure. For instance after few hours I had BM, it calms down and fissure is not acting up. If I decide for healing purpose have a bath, water returned me back to spasms.

So I always preferred to limit access to fissure, not creams, not baths.

I'm currently dealing with this problem too. After a night of heavy drinking at a party I gave myself bad diarrhoea the next day which has really tore up my fissure (just when I thought it was healing) the bleeding has returned and there's constant stinging. Coconut oil and vaseline usually help the pain but this time they just give me a burning sensation. I'm going to try following my doctors advise and leave it alone other than the diltiazem cream. He told me to keep it as dry as possible and didn't think it was a great idea to keep putting coconut oil in there.

I have this feeling that it being moist is more comfortable. When it's dry you can feel the pain more I think, but then again the moist approach isn't healing me so i'm gonna try a dry spell. Maybe you should too.

Thank you both!

Hayley, I agree. The last go round I had used Fissure Control oil at night only. I normally would have zero pain at night so I put it on to heal overnight. Now even that burns, so I don't do it.
I read somewhere, maybe on here, someone's doc said just leave it the heck alone and keep it dry, even with a tissue on the outside and let it heal on its own.
I do like the idea of baths to promote the blood flow down there, but if it makes me feel bad, I'm not doing it.
Gonna just leave it alone for a while.
Thanks!

The only thing I use in the cream line is Vaseline, and only on the outside. When things were not good for me (intensely painful for hours on end), I used dilation. I also soak in a Sitz Bath on a regular basis.

Have you tried a heating pad? This could increase blood flow with minimal contact to the fissure...

Everything irritates mine too even though I think I might be healing. But my pain is like an extensive dry sting pain as if my butthole is crying out to have moisture. So I put cream on it and it burns like heck!! I have no clue.
Suffering since June 2013

Methods tried:
GTN cream - migraines!
Manuka Honey / Coconut oil / Aloe
tag excision X 2, botox x 3
Dilatiazem
dilatation 2 X daily + Retin-C Vitamin Scar Treatment Oil 2 X daily - best thing ever.
Now pain free 2/7/21

Thank you, everyone!

Fissurefrustration- I know! These things are so confusing at times! It's all trial and error as to what works and what doesn't.

msimon- how do you use the heating pad? Under your butt, between your legs, ...?? It's a difficult area. LOL

I lay on my side and press it up against my butt cheeks and kind of bend it (gently) to go a bit between my legs (hope that makes sense). Sometimes I just lay on my back and put it under my butt. I don't sit much still so I don't sit on it but know others have done that. Just be careful to not put the heat too high so as to do damage. I also would take breaks like maybe heat for up to 20 minutes at a time. You don't want to make more inflammation.
