Fissure with hems

Postby anniebee » 27 Aug 2015, 16:22

Now that I have hems with fissure, doc gave me some cream and suppository(getting it in is another entire story) with cortizone. Was ok until midnight when I put in another suppository. Then a pain started like a hot poker and massive burning started inside and outside anus. Now thinking, what a mistake for my fissure. Anyone had severe burning pain from hem products while having fissure at same time? Was up all night with this horrible burning pain so I put on Lidocaine and for the first time, it burned like crazy. Ended up in sitz for hours. Treatment for fissures different than hems. anyone else dealt with this. Please help.

I had hems and a fissure at one point. I'm not sure if I had the fissure from the beginning (after my baby was born) or if the hems caused the fissure, etc. But anyway, all along they were treating me for hems and I just kept getting worse and worse and it took a specialist to finally diagnose a fissure. What cream did he give you? I found once I ditched all the hemorrhoid stuff and started using the diltiazem (can never remember how to spell that) I improved really quickly. Are they internal hemorroids? I found once the fissure started feeling better that I still had small hemorrhoids, but they didn't really bother me at all - it was the fissure causing my pain. If it was me I would ignore the hems until the fissure is under control, but I guess it depends how bad your hems are.

Daisy Mac, For the fissure, I was given nifedipine as the diltiazem made my blood pressure too low. I think they are almost the same drug. For the hems was given proctosone. I did not use it yesterday at all but ended up with the same horror story last night after BM. Hems are external but doc said probably internal as well. Too much pain for further exam. I iced and used heat as well. No help there. I read about using black tea bag and today will try it. For sure, I have to not use any hem meds.

Having the two together is common. Generally speaking fissures are the much bigger evil. I feel you should hold off treatments for your hems as inserting anything up your bum should be avoided at all costs until you feel you are close to healed. I made the mistake of putting anusol suppositories up there when I first got my fissure I believe that is the reason it went on to become chronic. It's most likely that the hems will shrink if you carry on with your bathing regime and leave the area alone! Nif is ok to use on the outside, again don't try to insert your finger up there. There's nothing that sets me back more than doing something like that...or a doctor doing it

I'm surprised your doctor allowed you to use suppositories the state you seem to be in. Some of them really don't understand fissures for what they really are. They've read the medical books but that's about it. Makes me mad.

I agree that doctors don't seem to know what this condition is really like. I think because it's non life-threatening, a lot of them dont' take it very seriously. People on this forum have helped me way more than the specialist. The only thing he can do that they can't is prescribe meds!

If you go see a regular doctor and complain of anal pain, 90% will diagnose hemmerhoids and prescribe cortisone cream, which does nothing.

Me too I have a combo of a fissure, some internal hemms and 3 skin tag bonusPlus! , my surgeon said he is going to do the sphincterotomy and skin tag removal , hopefully my Hemms will not flare up.
My experience with all kind of the meds you think of has failed , at least I tried everything so Im going for the surgery next Thursday,I hope for us a fast recovery .

Well, I probably did hurt the fissure with suppositories as I feel like I am back to where I started 2 months ago. What was I thinking when I put those in?? Just desperate, I guess. I'm on my third Tea bag in attempt to have the tannins shrink the hem. I may never drink tea again after where I am pulling the tea bags from. Salamon, best of luck on the surgery.

Anniebee I have used anusol suppositories, they melt very quickly when inside, doubt they could do harm. Not sure if they would help fissures, they are used for hemmerhoids

Hurtinend, I remember using anusol years ago. The ones I have are Proctosone by prescription and they have a sharp point on them. Going to google anusol and see if shape is different. Meanwhile, still trying my black tea experiment. Teatime!!!
