Hafzaal - I take restoralax...same thing as miralax. My doc said it was fine to take for at least a year. Many, including me, do not find that it is a stimulant but rather just a softener. So I am not concerned about longer term use with that product.

Jay - you still taking any softener?

Fair enough. I think I take the label too seriously since they all say not to be used for more than 7 days. I bought 100mg dulcosate so I'll use that for a couple of days and hopefully I can say goodbye to this ordeal!

Also, one other thing that helped me was pure ozonated olive oil. Applied it 3-4 times daily.

Yes, I still take softener, but not on a regular basis. Usually three times a week when I feel that my diet was worse then normal for that day (Docusate Calcium, 240mg)

Im guessing you were told that taking stool softeners long term is okay since you said you have been taking them for a while now?

Yes, I checked with my doctor regarding long term use of stool softeners. The doctor told me that for someone such as myself (normal weight, no serious health issues, etc) there is no risk as long as I stay within the recommended dosages. The doctor told me that the big medical risk is for people who have eating disorders (anorexia, bulimia, etc) because these people sometimes use stool softeners as an alternative to purging behaviors (I seriously doubt that there's anyone on this forum with an eating disorder such as anorexia/bulimia !).

Tried to book an appointment to see CRS but wait times are just way too long! Decided to go private and will be seeing Dr.Rudd on the 10th of December. He is rated highly like Dr.Bernick so I'm hoping it will be a good experience. Lets see what he has to say!

I just took restorolax for the first time three days ago and wow those three days have been completely normal.

I just hope some actual healing takes place so I'm not back to not being normal right after I stop using restorolax!
