anesthetic injection to stop the pain?

Postby SurvivorX » 11 Dec 2015, 15:20

Guys any ideas on anesthetic injection to stop the pain?
I had 6 operations already but the pain remains - tried all ointments, Botox , everything, I need something to totally loose all sensitivity in the anus.

Survivor...sounds like you have really been through the ringer...sorry to hear.

It is not really possible for any of us to give you a definitive answer...we dont know exactly what is causing your pain, where it is located etc. I would highly recommend you consult a doctor that specializes in pain management...it is a real honest to goodness specialty here in Canada...not sure where you are located. Otherwise I would go to a CRS and go over your issue and have them suggest a course of treatment. Wish I could be more helpful.

During an attack of an acute, thrombosed hemmorhoid in the emergency department about 4 years ago, an ER doctor actually did just that. It took 21 needles worth of injection though, and I'm guessing that that's because there are so many nerves in the area, so I can't imagine that it would be a treatment recommended on a regular basis. The effects only lasted for a few hours too (like dental anaesthetic), but at the time, I was more grateful to him than I've ever been in my life!

Until then, I too, wondered why there wasn't something that could just permanently numb the area!
